Hi!
My name is Hans Holter Solhjell and I am a Norwegian educator who specializes in developmentally supportive communication and conflict resolution as well as trauma therapy.
I consult with and provide training for parents, kindergartens, and schools in Norway and now also internationally.
I have created the PLS Framework for Authoritative Leadership and Developmentally Supportive Conflict Resolution. I am also a Global Certification Trainer in Trauma Release Exercises (TRE), a practitioner of Somatic Experiencing (SE, a body-oriented trauma therapy), The Feldenkrais Method of somatic learning, and I favor a multi-disciplinary approach to creating solutions to complex problems.
About PLS Mentoring
Parenting and care-giving are rewarding yet demanding roles, often accompanied by significant challenges such as everyday conflicts, tantrums, aggression, and navigating complex emotional dynamics. These challenges are well known not only for parents of toddlers but also for caregivers of children with various diagnoses, trauma, and developmental challenges.
These difficulties can strain relationships and impact the well-being of both children and adults, making effective conflict resolution essential for maintaining a harmonious and supportive environment.
By providing structured guidance and practical strategies, PLS mentoring empowers parents and caregivers to resolve conflicts constructively, foster emotional regulation, build stronger, healthier relationships with the children in their care, and support their development and self-regulation capacities.

More about the PLS framework
The Positive Learning Spirals (PLS) framework offers a novel and highly effective framework for addressing the challenges faced by parents and caregivers in their everyday interactions with children. Situations involving limit setting, compliance requests, aggression between children, and other similar challenges can lead to conflicts and the escalation of negative emotions and behaviors.
Grounded in comprehensive theory, research, and practical application, the PLS model focuses on enhancing the understanding, skills, and competencies of adult caregivers. By integrating evidence-based strategies with real-world practices, the PLS model provides a robust foundation for caregivers to manage and resolve conflicts efficiently.
Through structured guidance and practical strategies, PLS mentoring empowers parents and caregivers to resolve conflicts constructively, foster emotional regulation, and support children’s development and self-regulation capacities.
The mentoring sessions are tailored to address specific issues, offering personalized solutions that cater to the unique needs of each caregiver and child. By focusing on both immediate conflict resolution and long-term relational growth, PLS mentoring ensures that caregivers are well-equipped to handle current challenges while building a solid foundation for future interactions.
Additionally, PLS Conflict Resolution Mentoring promotes collaboration and support among caregivers, enhancing cooperation between parents, caregivers, and educators. This holistic approach not only improves individual relationships but also contributes to a more cohesive and supportive community for children’s growth and well-being.
PLS Mentoring and Programs emphasize the development of key competencies such as emotional regulation, effective communication, and authoritative leadership, enabling caregivers to build stronger, healthier relationships with the children in their care.
